    Dr. Petraq Papajorgji will host a public seminar on Rich Internet Applications Frameworks in McCarty D, room G001 at 10:00 a.m. The discussion will center on a new paradigm for developing Web-based applications with a rich GUI, a significant improvement over standard HTML, including review and comparison of AJAX (asynchronous Javascript and XML), GWT (Google Web Toolkit), and Adobe's FLEX2.

    Also: Predictive Systems has been contracted to perform a comprehensive risk assessment of UF IT resources to gauge the overall effectiveness of UF's security posture. The risk assessment is expected to take two months beginning with a Risk Assessment Kickoff from 1-3PM in the Reitz Union, room 282. This filter is being implemented as the result of an SMB filter standard (link available only from campus IPs) approved by ITAC-NI.
