Christian Leopold3/15/200110:19:09 AMPush the importance of upgrading the clients to W2K Professional.

Chris Fooshee3/15/200110:20:21 AMGood audio!
Dwight Jesseman3/15/200110:21:19 AMEverything fine here
cnr cnr3/15/200110:21:48 AMyes good everything
Harry @TREC:3/15/200110:23:57 AMNow I'm in. Was there an agenda?
cnr cnr3/15/200110:24:36 AM64 if you like to wait an hour for it to boot
Christian Leopold3/15/200110:24:56 AMI'm runnig a Pentium Pro @ 200Mhz. Push the memory aspect..
cnr cnr3/15/200110:25:07 AMdefinetly the memory is a must
Christian Leopold3/15/200110:26:41 AMhello?
Christian Leopold3/15/200110:30:32 AMI would like to suggest that Fedro be present for a Q/A session for the ICC. Your thougths?
Christian Leopold3/15/200110:37:42 AMThe last converstion I had with Fedro, He had indicated that IT would coordinate the IFAS-Wide Training efforts and it would be up to the Department Chair to supply the funds.
Christian Leopold3/15/200110:38:05 AMNick Wos is a W2k Pro and Server MCP
Christian Leopold3/15/200110:38:53 AMAsk what kinds of training you guys and gals want...
Christian Leopold3/15/200110:39:23 AMNO...We dis not get what we paid for in that last class..
Christian Leopold3/15/200110:45:27 AMFedro and Davd Pokorney is on a committee to look at empolyee retention.
Christian Leopold3/15/200110:45:42 AMI'm still looking a that propsal mike...
Dwight Jesseman3/15/200110:56:56 AMWho was the volunteer?
Harry @TREC:3/15/200110:57:32 AMYes. Please send out a letter. I need to get the CEO office here to switch over.
Harry @TREC:3/15/200111:01:47 AMMike, or whoever; It would be better for the remote techs to get a "heads up" about the GNV mail shutting down before it goes out to everyone.
Alex Santoro (CNR)3/15/200111:02:16 AMyes
Harry @TREC:3/15/200111:03:05 AMThat way, we won't get unindated w/ questions we can't answer.
Christian Leopold3/15/200111:04:14 AMI'll ask fedro to address the ICC in a Q/A session and send out a letter indicating the reason for the mail migration.
Christian Leopold3/15/200111:04:42 AMMike,
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:06:00 AMWe have had everyone on GatorLink and our local MailSite server for several years very successfully. GNV was forwarded. Lack of remote/user control of forwarding is a BIG problem for Exchange Server Account users. ES admins will be needed at remote sites to work effectively.
Chris Fooshee3/15/200111:06:31 AMMike, Dean and the rest of the crew as well as the help desk respond to all requests for these issues very quickly...
Christian Leopold3/15/200111:08:08 AMjack, all REC will have a local server as well as controll over it.
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:08:42 AMWill you set it up on BDC and give us Domain Admin so we can do what we need to locally?
Christian Leopold3/15/200111:09:18 AMI'm willing to give you full domain Admin , if wanted.
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:10:02 AMI'll call later. Would like to try the IFASDOM BDC here again to help with the integration with TREC since we now have a common director.
Christian Leopold3/15/200111:10:22 AMagreed...
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:12:42 AMCan we now get ANY addresses such as GatorLink or local mailservers put in the global IFASDOM directories?
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:13:41 AMYES LDAP!!!!!
IFAS Computer Coordinators Meeting3/15/200111:14:33 AMYes, by creating Custom Recipients on Exchange they will be reflected in the Global address list and LDAP.
Harry @TREC:3/15/200111:15:05 AMMy users are concerned that they no longer have easy access to their address book for non-ifas people, that they have built up over the years.
Chris Fooshee3/15/200111:16:04 AM95% WP here. We share using RTF.
IFAS Computer Coordinators Meeting3/15/200111:16:19 AMusers can keep their personal addresses, they can even keep their personal addresses on the server to keep them backed up
Alex Santoro (CNR)3/15/200111:16:44 AMright
Chris Fooshee3/15/200111:16:56 AMEducation, education, education
Harry @TREC:3/15/200111:17:02 AMThen I am lacking in training.
Harry @TREC:3/15/200111:18:51 AMTREC only uses MS Word.
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:19:00 AMIt would be ideal if IFAS upper admin could establish a policy of official business formats for all electronic communications. Anyone could vary internally but would need the standard for interoperability.
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:26:22 AMHow about the next meeting with the ViewTech operating so we can all participate?
IFAS Computer Coordinators Meeting3/15/200111:28:06 AMJack, Do you mean the distance learning setup?
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:28:12 AMyes
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:28:40 AMwe use Viestech via leased lines as well.
Harry @TREC:3/15/200111:28:48 AMThe vid/conference setup, like the first meeting.
Chris Fooshee3/15/200111:29:15 AMI attended
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:29:26 AMWe need 2 way audio.
Harry @TREC:3/15/200111:30:13 AMWas that sent out a number of times to IFAS-All?
Harry @TREC:3/15/200111:32:20 AMThe old Distance Ed used to have a thing called a phone bridge.
Harry @TREC:3/15/200111:33:01 AMEveryone called one number in G'ville.
Alex Santoro (CNR)3/15/200111:33:32 AMyes, internet options
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:35:16 AMCorporate mode also can use Internet email (POP and IMAP ) accounts. Outlook can be configured to use exchange server and internet.
Dwight Jesseman3/15/200111:37:13 AMIs IFAS Admin going to move from their Calendar progam to Exchange?
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:37:17 AMI have seen the global calandering and meeting arranging in the corporate environment where desktops were preset and locked up. It has never worked as far as I have seen. It is always dependant on the individual users religiously keeping their calendars!!!
Alex Santoro (CNR)3/15/200111:37:50 AMwhat do you mean by desktops were preset?
Alex Santoro (CNR)3/15/200111:39:00 AMright, uising delegates in outlooks
Chris Fooshee3/15/200111:39:59 AMWe are using Calendaring for center events, room reservations, farm scheduling and other functions so that everyone has access to the infromation
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:40:52 AMthese examples are all top down announcing - not meeting management where you check potential participants schedules to set up a meeting.
Harry @TREC:3/15/200111:40:56 AMchris fooshee.... You mean the one in outlook?
Chris Fooshee3/15/200111:41:02 AMIYep
Harry @TREC:3/15/200111:41:18 AMGotta study that.
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:41:51 AMwhat if I don't keep my calendar?
Dwight Jesseman3/15/200111:45:56 AMAlso many PDA's sync with exchange, a plus when convincing users to move.
Alex Santoro (CNR)3/15/200111:47:01 AMyes dwight, many new PDA's are essentially interactive with new exchange software
Harry @TREC:3/15/200111:50:30 AMOutlook is huge to download from remote sites.
IFAS Computer Coordinators Meeting3/15/200111:51:03 AM[Private to Harry @TREC:] we could send you a CD
Harry @TREC:3/15/200111:51:33 AM[Private] Thanks. I could use it.
Chris Fooshee3/15/200111:53:01 AMOff subject: I've had some comments from users that IFADOM is being mistaken for IFASDOM. I admit that I've accidently clicked it myself...who is it?
IFAS Computer Coordinators Meeting3/15/200111:53:46 AMIt's a typo for a workgroup name somewhere
Christian Leopold3/15/200111:53:56 AM Someone mis-typed. We will track down the offending machine and change it.
Jack Kramer3/15/200111:57:48 AMGROUP-COMPUTER and then lots of info in comments
IFAS Computer Coordinators Meeting3/15/200111:59:41 AMtime to eat...gotta go!
Chris Fooshee3/15/200111:59:51 AMI second that
Harry @TREC:3/15/200112:00:25 PMSo the synopsis is .....
Chris Fooshee3/15/200112:00:30 PMGood session, Thanks all.
