Patching updates... (previous discussion)

Microsoft

March's Microsoft patches are stil listed in the link. Current risk assessments can be found here.

There were several Microsoft Office updates to the Apple version, as recently as 4/16/19. Please run AutoUpdater to install those updates.

Also, if you are using OneDrive on your Mac, you may have to manually update to the latest version. (5/29/19 prerelease) (Just installed it yesterday and it's crashing. Do not update)

Adobe

Flash, Acrobat, Reader, Connect, along with several other Adobe products, have updates here. Last updates were April 9th.

On the subject of Adobe, does anyone know how to create a package that doesn't require any user log in? We used to be able to create a CC Package that would allow anyone on a machine to run Acrobat Pro. Now all packages require a user to log in, which doesn't help when the computer is used by multiple OPS employees. (Might have found the answer here.)

Java

Java updates were in April 16th for Java 8U211, for all major platforms. Release notes can be found here.

Apple

There have been several Apple updates (March 29th), including a new system update, security updates and printer driver updates. This includes High Sierra, Sierra and Mojave, along with iOS updates.

Software services issued their notices for everyone with a CC license. Also note that they have redesigned the install process, again.

SAS

SAS University Edition recently had an update. Please visit this link.

JMP

JMP 14 is now available through the UF Software Licensing Division. It is free.

Sigmaplot

Sigmaplot 14 is now available through the UF Software Licensing Division.

Two-Factor Authentication

Two-Factor was expected to have all current and new staff enrolled by July 1st. I haven't seen any updates on the stats.

It does seem that Cisco bought the Duo Security, so time will tell how much changes over the next 6 months to a year.

Videoconferencing and WAN discussion

Videoconferencing topics (previous discussion)

Skype Business for Mac has updates that should install using your Microsoft Autoupdater. (Last update was on 4/4/2019) SfB for both major OS's should automagically update.

Zoom updates are available, either through Software Center or through Zoom directly.

Policy

Content Management System (CMS) (previous discussion)

Updates as available.

Last month's IT@UF Meeting Notes

You can now view the notes from each meeting at this link.

ITSA Policy and UF IT Policy

I've found it difficult to find the ITSA Computing Policy and the UF IT Policies, so I will provide the links here and keep them here.

ITSA - http://imm.ifas.ufl.edu

UF IT - http://www.it.ufl.edu/policies/

There will now be an ICC Policy Page that will keep track of policy and guidelines. These are not strict rules meant to dictate what must be done, but instead, a page of policies that are meant to help keep things running smoothly for each department and ITSA. You can find it here.

ITPAC met on Monday, October 15th. The group agreed with recommended policies and will present them to Dr.Payne for final approval.

Andrew Carey provided a link to fixing incorrectly named devices. You can find it here.

Projects

We are currently working on a new ICC site and integration of Yammer. Stay Tuned! The new site is planning on using Microsoft Teams, pending the outcome of the software policy exception being brought forth to the ITPAC members.

We are LIVE on Teams! We will be transitioning to Teams from Yammer, so please try to start new discussion on the ICC channel in Teams.

ICC Retreat

The official date has been set! May 21-22 (Tues-Wed) at the Straughn Center. We are currently working on the "breakaway" sessions, guests, etc.

We have a registration form set up. Please take the time to register. Registration will close on May 1st. As of right now, we sit at 33 attendees. If your department is having some financial difficulties and can't afford to send you to Gainesville, please contact Dan Cromer.

Also, we will have a poll sent out, in Teams, to help pick our 2nd day of catering. Please participate.

Operations

IFAS IT Updates (previous discussion)

TEAMs is now functional. We are making plans for the next ICC meeting to be with TEAMs, along with inititating new discussion from Yammer to TEAMs. There are resources available to start learning how to use TEAMs and they even have their own YouTube channel.

Windows 7 computer count is down to 377. Let's keep working on that and get it down to 0.

PowerShell Learning Group is still going strong. If you would like to catch up on any of the classes that you've missed, please email Andrew Carey
